Raymond Wilson, an IT consultant, sold his first home six years ago and rented in London. Originally looking for an older property in the South London area to buy, Raymond’s estate agent introduced him to Paxton House and he fell in love with it straight away.
Raymond explains:
Paxton House was the first new build I had ever looked at. I wasn’t looking for a new build at all initially and was looking for a more traditional home. I walked in and just fell in love with the apartment; the design of the building, the great views and the close transport links. The fact that it was brand new and never lived in before was also really appealing. When I found out that it was more affordable on a monthly basis through the Help to Buy scheme too, that’s what sold it to me completely.
Raymond continues:
“The Help to Buy scheme made buying a new build much more affordable. By myself I could probably have afforded a £300,000 property, but with the scheme I could buy a home around £60,000 more, which made a considerable difference. The monthly payments are much cheaper than the prices I was paying for renting too. My previous rent was £1,600 a month, and my current monthly costs are just under £1,000.”
